CAMPANIA ARCHITETTURA 2023 – Photo Laboratory with Mario Ferrara
Date: 2023
The Campania Architettura, a regional event organized by the Regione Campania, in order to promote the participation and awareness of citizens towards architecture and urban systems in the region with this year’s framework theme of Territori Plurali. The highlight of the festival was the month of April which saw the establishment of six living labs. They are places dedicated to sharing and meeting, getting to know the territories and the project, with workshops and self-building activities, with the involvement of institutions, entrepreneurs, universities, citizens, associations, young architects and students, to activate processes and put connecting communities with places, elaborating visions to be transformed into collective and shared design paths and are in close relationship with the different types of landscape combined with a specific territorial theme. In the Neapolitan case it is Abitare la città in transizione with planning and rethinking activities for the reuse of large urban containers. The theme dealt was edited by DiARC, through the commitment of profs. arch. Orfina Fatigato and Gianluigi Freda and with the supervision of the Campania Region. The articulation of the Neapolitan living lab has provided an internal space dedicated to the photography of the six topics dealt with by way of example of the complex question of the reuse of these containers abandoned for years or even decades in the city area. Alongside this photographic research was the landscape photographer Mario Ferrara, who supported by young photographers, returned through targeted photographic campaigns the image that these spaces experience during the daily life. In the specific case, I was involved in understanding the relationships around the INPS building in Via Galileo Ferraris, the former Banco di Napoli towers at the Naples business center and the remains of the Corradini industrial plant in Vigliena with architects and photographer Gianluca Piccolo e Luca Esposito.
